Position Summary:
The Communications & Engagement Clerk will work as a liaison between various school district
stakeholders and the school district. They will work closely with members of the school community
and leadership to promote district activities and success using various methods of technology and
digital media including managing the district’s social media accounts. This role involves maintaining
accurate information across communication platforms, assisting with event coordination, and
fostering positive relationships with stakeholders to strengthen community involvement in the
district's mission.
Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public
Relations, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Proficient in using social media platforms and content management systems.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Demonstrate an understanding of AI concepts and their practical applications.
● Experience in community engagement or public relations is preferred.
Physical Demands An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
● Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
● Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, sitting and standing
● Read handwritten or printed material
● The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is
noisy and active.
Essential Functions:
Community Relations & Engagement
● Serve as a liaison and assist with outreach and communication efforts
● Manage media requests and coordinate interviews and news releases
● Direct and oversee all community engagement efforts in coordination with other partners.
● Direct and assist in facilitating District various campaigns in the community, engaging
parents and other community partners.
● Assist in the coordination of district events such as convocation, forums, community
gatherings, etc.
● Design and distribute newsletters, brochures ,and other materials to promote the district
programs and initiatives.
● Direct and oversee all community engagement efforts in coordination with other partners
Internal Communication
● Assist with the coordination and database maintenance of the district’s employee
recognition program
● Assist with the onboarding of employees
● Assist in the coordination of District surveys, internally and externally, to better
understand the needs of the District and community
● Manage all alumni relations and coordinate planning of events and other efforts
● Prepare summary of board meeting to send to staff and eventually stakeholders
Social Media
● Oversee of all District social media accounts, and regularly post news, other information
and announcements as needed
● Management of the District website
Brand Management
● Assist in the development and coordination of District publications, overseeing uses of
branding and logos
● Support the district’s recruiting and retention plan to assist in achieving the district's
values
● Attend recruiting fairs and showcase our district to potential employees.
Crisis Communications
● Develop and assist with communication strategies during crisis or emergencies
● Ensuring accurate information is shared with the public
● Utilize KASB resources as needed
● Carry out all other duties as assigned
● Regular and punctual on-site attendance are essential functions of this position; Irregular work
hours may be required due to attendance of District and community events.
