This started as an idea on Post-It note when a group of Jewell County citizens came together to discuss what could be done for people young and old to have fun right here in their hometown. Mammoth Fest was born. The Mammoth was chosen as the mascot due the county’s unique history (have this link to museum page) of mammoths with remains of the extinct animals having been found across the county. This festival features live music, vendors.

Held annually in July and complete with livestock shows, great food, vendors, booths, and a newly-introduced carnival, the Jewell County Fair has something for the whole family.

Since its inception in 1978, the Jewell County Threshing Bee has been a staple in our community. Held on the third weekend of July each year, spectators from all over come to take in sights of how they farmed back in the olden days! Antique farm equipment is on display all weekend and families can grab a bite to eat or a quick drink at one of the many food vendors.

The Jewell Corn Show is an annual event on the second weekend of October.

The Mankato City Library received significant funds after the sale of a rare book, donated by Robert Turner. One condition of the sale was that some of the funding had to be used for the arts. The Library Board allocates funds annually to bring in artists to perform at Mankato City Park. Eventually, the concert series grew popular enough, it required a stage. Tammy Finnell, former library director, wrote and received a grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to build a stage. The stage is available for all types of entertainment, weddings, church services, classes, theater productions, and a wide variety of musical events.
