Jewell County Community Foundation Awards Spring Grants

The Jewell County Community Foundation met on Tuesday, May 24 to review spring grant applications. Recipients were as follows. The committee awarded: the Esbon Rural Fire District #3 $5,987.19 for updating equipment; the Burr Oak Fire Department $5,999 from the Jewell County Community Fund and $5,001 from the Dane G. Hansen Fund for a total of $11,000 for updating equipment; Mankato Cares, Inc. $497.61 for storage totes and other equipment for Santa’s Workshop; the City of Jewell $6,000 for improvements the Jewell Community Center; the Jewell County Health Department $2,500 for a lead analyzer; the Formoso Community Improvement Committee $4,900 for park improvements; the City of Burr Oak $1,000 for advertising for Sunflower Daze; USD #107 $2,500 for murals; USD #107 USD #107 $2,500 for improvements to the sound system for the stadium and field; the City of Mankato $5,000 for the splash pad project; the Formoso Community Improvement Committee $500 for city-wide clean up; and the City of Formoso $2,756 for LED lighting in the City Hall and thrift store. The above awards total $5,999 from the Jewell County Community Fund and $39,141.80 from the Dane G. Hansen Fund for a total of $43,140.80.
